Tim Berry, Chairman

The Zoning Board of Appeals consists of seven members who are appointed by the Village Board to serve a five year term. This Board conducts hearings of individuals, groups, or organizations who wish to appeal a decision made by the Village Board or the Building Inspector. The Board of Appeals will discuss the appeal and make a recommendation of that appeal to the Village Board. The Village Board of Trustees will take the recommendation of the Board of Appeals into consideration and make a final judgment of the appeal.

The Board of Appeals will hear appeals from a decision from the Building Inspector and Village Board and decide any question involving the interpretation of any provision in the Building Code and Zoning Ordinances. The Board of Appeals also makes recommendations to the Village Board of Trustees regarding variances of the Zoning Ordinances whereby strict enforcement of the Zoning Ordinances would result in practical difficulty or unnecessary hardship that would deprive the landowner of the reasonable use of the land or property.

All request for Appeals must be submitted in writing. Every Appeal or application must refer to the specific provision of the Ordinance involved and state the interpretation claimed, the intended use for which a special permit is sought. (See the Revised Code of Ordinances, Chapter 40, Section 8 for additional information.)
