The Water and Sewer Department area contains information on the water and sewer infrastructure and current and proposed projects. Information on the processing systems and reports on usage are listed, as well.
Water Plant

The Village of New Berlin produces its own potable water at a surface treatment
facility located approximately three miles North of the Village. The reservoir,
located adjacent to the water plant, is supplied by Spring Creek. The water
plant was constructed in 1961 and has a capacity to produce 216,000 gallons
of water per day. The Village water system presently serves over 500 customers.
The Village has recently opened a Bulk Water station. Bulk water sales are available 24 hours a day west of the Village Hall unless a water emergency has been declared.. The Bulk Water meter only accepts quarters.

In 1997, a new 200,000 gallon water tower was constructed in North Park. This supplements a 50,000 gallon tower that has served the Village since 1961.
Sanitary Sewer
A sanitary sewer system and treatment facility were constructed in 1978. It
is located just North and East of the Village on the Berlin Road. The facility
was funded in part by a revenue bond guaranteed by the Farmers Home Administration.

In the year 2000, a $580,000 Illinois First grant was awarded to the Village for the purpose of expanding and upgrading the existing sewer system infrastructure. A major part of this project was the installation of a new pumping station that will eliminate two existing lift stations. The project is still under construction at this time.
